Among the most famous of the sketches that appeared on Monty Python’s Flying Circus was the “Dead Parrot” sketch, which matched Michael Palin and John Cleese in a battle of wits between a customer and a petshop owner who sold him a … well, a dead parrot. A few years later they were matched up again in the below “Cheese Shop” sketch, which is something of a miracle of concision. It was written by Cleese and Graham Chapman; according to Wikipedia, the sketch only made it to the air because of Palin’s enthusiasm for it. I find it delightful.
I love this sketch too. I have always fancied the two of them making it up and laughing their heads off, until Palin asks Cleese, ‘could this BE any funner?!” –and then they put in the bouzouki music.
