Bertolt Brecht.

Prof. Hans Mayer, a close collaborator with Bertolt Brecht in the dramatist’s middle and late career, discusses the original Swiss and German productions of Mother Courage and Her Children, as well as the premiere of The Resistable Rise of Arturo Ui, in this second part of the 1989 BBC documentary Brecht on Stage, directed by Amanda Willett. One of the treats here, apart from Mayer’s memories of working with Brecht, is the rare archival footage from the original Berliner Ensemble productions of both plays, as well as some silent film of Brecht himself.
